Welcome to the Chinese New Year Trust
"If your plan is for one year plant rice. If your plan is for ten years plant trees. If your plan is for one hundred years educate children." Confucius
The Chinese New Year Trust is an international charity that helps improve access to education for children and young people in rural China.
Most of us take education for granted. However, it is education that empowers us to turn our dreams into reality. Millions of children in rural China have little or no access to high-quality education.
At CNYTrust, we want to help give them that chance; to live their dreams, build their futures and to have the best possible start in life – we, and our supporters, believe this starts with education.
Rural vs. Urban – some stats:
Average years of schooling: 6.6 vs. 11.0
Secondary school enrolment rates: ~55% vs. ~75%
College: Urban students are 3 times more likely to be admitted than rural students
"A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special." Nelson Mandela
